I am 35 and have wanted a horse my entire life. Like most girls. The only problem was, my dad baled every square inch of our farm and didn't want to "waste" any of it on a horse for me. But unlike most girls, I have continued to dream about my very own horse, riding and grooming and forming a bond with a magical animal
By the time I grew up, I'd come to be fear...ful of horses, because I was stepped on by a friend's horse, been bucked off of a couple horses, and just was generally fearful of their large size and massive strength. And the horses I had seen were very skittish, full of energy, and undisciplined.
I've spent the last 12 years being a stay at home mom to my 6 children and this year, I decided to start taking some time for me. In the process of rediscovering my passions, I really couldn't get the wanting of a horse out of my head. I even bought goats, in the hopes that they would satisfy this need for a very large, intimidating equine.
Well, we built a barn in the fall of 2016, and somehow ended up with 2 horse stalls in it because I convinced my husband that SOMEDAY one of our 4 girls MIGHT want a horse.
ha.
I bought 2 miniature horses, you know, for the GIRLS, because they were adorable and the girls could ride them. Plus they had the added benefit of not terrorizing the living daylights out of me. Easily handled. Like a big dog, I told myself.
I fell head over heels. Again. Just like a girl, I sat up late in the barn, braiding manes, talking to them, picking feet, lunging. I knew in my heart it was time to get over my fear, take a deep breath, and jump in.
I went to high school with Alicia Mengelkoch, and knew she was still a horsewoman and asked her for tips on shopping for a horse, and who to call. She recommended you guys.
So I followed your spring sale, watched what kind of animals you sold, watched your own cute, BRAVE daughter's videos. Stalked you on Facebook, made sure you were a legitimate seller, and called Pete.
I said I was a BEGINNER beginner, and was looking to buy a horse to get started on. Mind you, I've only ridden a handful of times, on crazy horses, and I was honestly terrified of owning my own.
Pete said he had 2. Well, I came right over that day. I brought my mom, who to be honest, is a little abrasive, but she's owned horses in the past (the wild ones I wrote about).
When he lead the first out of the pen, I was overwhelmed. Obie was HUGE. He was a buckskin (I've always wanted a small paint or black mare). The horse was soooo intimidating. I talked with Pete about him while one of the girls rode him. I couldn't help but admire his gait. So smooth and pretty. Pete also showed me another- a chestnut. ( HA! I don't think I'm even saying that right!) But Pete asked me a lot of questions, watched me ride, and he determined that Obie was the better choice for me and my family. Pete spent the better part of 2-3 hours with me and my family and my annoying mom to make sure i was comfortable. He also made me promise to take riding lessons to learn to ride. Then he recommended a really awesome friend to purchase a used quality saddle from; it was apparent that Pete wanted to make sure both Obie and I were set up right from the start. He could have just sold me that horse or a more expensive one and sent me on my way. But he took all the time it needed to make sure I was comfortable learning with Obie and I had the right equipment.
Pete has also been there for any questions I have had and for an encouraging word when I need it. Starting to learn a new thing at my age is difficult and scary! So I have been taking lessons- true to my word, and true to Pete's word, Obie couldn't be a better fit for us.
Pete knew even before I did what horse would be right for me.
From the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate the extent Pete went from asking the right questions, to watching me ride, to helping me with various things since I got Obie home.
I have wholeheartedly enjoyed getting to know this horse, and how he likes being ridden and handled. It blows my mind how your family is so amazing at knowing these animals, when you buy and sell so many. It shows true horsemanship! Pete is a great judge of character-both human and horse. I am in awe of what you do- and you do it so well.
Obie and I have spent at least 24 hours in the saddle in the past 2 weeks. I ride him almost every day.
In the past few days, I have had many "aha" moments while getting to know Obie better. We are figuring each other out, and while its taken some time for me to be comfortable around him and to be honest- him around me, we are forming a great bond! It's taking me quite a while to get to know him compared to people who have been around these animals their whole lives, but I know slow is the way to go for me!
He is exactly what I needed- without knowing exactly what I wanted.

So from our whole family, who loves this animal as much as I do, THANK YOU! You have helped me with my dream, and I am so grateful!!

Kimberly Bertram

Growing up on a horse when I was a kid I knew no better joy than exploring my world on horseback. 40 years later I decided to go back to my youth and start riding again. With a debilitating illness that prevents me from walking very far I found I could ride several hours on horseback. My all time favorite horse of my dreams was a buckskin like Pa Cartwright from bonanza. After asking around I was told to contact Pete and Jill Houck horse buyers and sellers from the Isanti area. Pete invited me over to look at his stock and try some horses he thought I might like. After telling him of my illness he had me ride a nice blue roan gelding and saddled up a nice red roam mare. Both were very nice horses but I got a glimpse of a beautiful buckskin gelding in his corral. Pete being a man of integrity and thinking of my health and safety told me he thought he might be too much horse for me. After riding for another hour or so he saw me keep looking at the buckskin and asked if I wanted to try him. "Heck yes!" Was my reply. I jumped on and immediately found the horse was young powerful and maybe he was right. He kinda scared me a little. Pete took the time to teach me how horses are trained nowadays compared to when I grew up grabbing a hunk of mane and giving em the heels. That's how I learned on the farm growing up. Pete let me come over and ride that buckskin 5-6 times riding with me teaching me but most of all watching my abilities to determine if we would make a good match. Pete wouldn't sell me that horse unless I proved I could handle him and learned how to ride again. After a week of riding at Pete's he agree he was confident in my abilities and Gus was mine. He has been the greatest blessing and therapy for me I could ever ask for. I've spent almost everyday riding all winter indoors learning and refining my skills and Feb 19th we went on our 1st trail ride with some other new friends. Pete and Jill I cannot thank you enough for giving me the horse of my dreams and working with me long enough to be able to fulfill that dream. God bless you and your family and I can't wait to go riding with you again sometime. Everyone Gus and I run into say how beautiful he is. I couldn't be prouder to own him. Thanks again.

Pete & Jill, I just wanted to let you know I am very happy with Jet!! Best horse I have ever bought! Thanks so much!! I'll be coming back every year to your horse sale for horses!! I absolutely loved your auction and I won't go to any other! Shanna Teigen Osseo, WI

Pete & Jill, I am writing to thank you for helping me to pair my kids with the perfect first pony. Two years ago, I came to you looking for a pony for my 4 year-old daughter, Wendy. You had several well trained ponies in a wide range of sizes. Jill recommended "Peanut" for my daughters skill level. I trusted Jill's knowledge and ability to pair riders with horses and bought Peanut on the spot. It was the best money I have ever spent. Peanut was the perfect size for my children. They were able to groom, lead, and ride him with confidence. Today, my daughter has started to ride Peanut on her own. Going out to see Peanut is one of our favorite activities. He is truly a member of our family. Peanut is now regularly used in the CourageKenny Riders handicap riding program, where he's a favorite due to his small stature. When it is time for Wendy to move on from Peanut, I will go back to Jill and Pete for our next mount. It is the best money I've ever spent. The picture and video below are all I need to prove this is true.

We have two horses from Pete, Jill, Lana and Clayton. We have bought and had to sell all our horses that were not bought from Houcks. The two we have from them are stunning!

Darrell and Amy Kress Arizona

I saw Snickers being advertised on face book and I thought that would be the perfect pony for our family so I inquired about him. Jill told me they were located in Minnesota, I told her that was too far as we live in CA, Jill said if I was interested they could transport him to Wyoming or Montana. I called and talked to Pete a few times asking all the questions I could think of. I just felt in my heart that Pete was very honest about the pony. Pete called me on auction day and we were the highest bidder. I was so excited a new addition to our farm. We drove to Douglas Wyoming and met with Pete, Jill & Lana. What a wonderful family. Snickers handled the trip great, we stopped at a few rodeo grounds so he could rest and walk around. Snickers made the trip from Minnesota to California just fine. He is everything that Pete and Jill told me. We are so happy with Snickers he is the perfect pony for us. If we ever need another horse I would call Pete & Jill first.

Allen & Sandy Lagarbo Modesto, California

Thanks Pete and Jill Krones-Houck for "Cody" previously known as "Freckles" He's a perfect fit for my family and we love him!

We purchased this wonderful mare from you last October for my 11 year old daughter Kyra. She came to us as Minnie but Kyra calls her Cheyenne. They have become quite the team and they adore each other.  Kyra has been teaching her all of the WSCA games, english and pleasure. They won many blue ribbons at the county fair. Cheyenne is a very willing, smart and level headed horse. She also a Carlton County Mounted Posse horse. We are so pleased with this nice mare and with the way you took time with us to make sure Kyra and Cheyenne were a good fit for each other.  You are truly first class horse people!! Thank you!!!
I can honestly say this entire year has been a dream come true!
Thank you for such an amazing horse!

I just wanted to give you an update on the white pony that we bought from you last summer.  He is the sweetest little soul ever born and makes me smile every day.  His name is Captain Jack and my 3 year old daughter Savanna loves him dearly.  Savvy and Captain Jack have already had many adventures with many more to come.  She uses him to turn back and hold the herd in the cutting pen and is learning to swing a rope!  He is our nightly babysitter when we are working our big horses and my rodeo geldings traveling partner/security blanket when we are on the road.  Captain Jack even sleeps in the stall with my big gelding, lol.  Thank You again!

Hi Pete, Jill and Lana,
I thought I would give you an update on Franklin.  He has settled in and is very happy at his new home.  He is absolutely everything that you said he would be.  My daughter Dylan (3 1/2) just LOVES him.  He has been a great little horse for her to advance her learning.  She loves to brush him and love on him as much as she loves to ride him. He just does whatever she asks him to do.   They are a pretty good team!  I look for them to do big things to big things together in the coming months!!
Thanks again for your honest representation of your horses!

I have to brag a little. I went team sorting last night with my good horse Joe from Houck Horse Company. My partner Darla Haughian-Wier and I got 3 times and the fasted!! It was a BLAST!! Joe did awesome!. I love my horse so much. Joe is a such versatile horse from team sorting , barrel racing to trail riding and mainly keeping me safe. I have never felt that comfortable with a horse as I do with him. Jill did an awesome job matching him with me and Pete did a great job finding him. I can't thank you enough!!

Thank you AGAIN,
Kathy Clemens

Audrey and "Batman" at their first barrel race! WE just LOVE him! Thanks, The Sundell's
"Batman" was purchased at the 4th Annual Houck Horse Company Spring Sale.

Hi Pete and Jill,
Just wanted to send you a picture of the paint gelding you sold us last week. He's AMAZING!! We all adore him. The 3 year old climbs all over him, brushes him, runs up in the pasture and hugs him and can ride him. He's great for us and he's a good babysitter for the kids. He slows right down when he knows a little one is on him. He won't even trott fast even if they try. :)
THANK YOU THANK YOU. We renamed him Buster and it fits.
He's worth every penny.

I've had compliments from him being a great lookin horse to his ability.  Thank you for makin and selling a horse like him and giving me the opportunity to enjoy him. We placed at Coffeyville which had 4,500 added and 92 girls. The picture was taken at a recent  barrel race with 1500 added we placed 3rd!  He's been placing everywhere I take him! I couldn't be any happier or be having any more fun!

Dear Houck Horse Company,

My Mother and I returned home from Billings safely with Sofia Peppy Olena. Since that time I have been working with her everyday to get to know her better and allow her to adjust to her new surroundings. You were so honest about her demeanor; she is gentle, kind and very well trained. I am looking forward to a long life of riding and working cows on our countryside. Most importantly Mr Houck thank you for spending all that time with me during the BLS Horse Sale. Your patience helped me find comfort about the purchase I had hoped to make. In addition thank you for allowing me to take ownership of Sofia once I was awarded the bid on her. I am so grateful for her and to have had the opportunity to work with you and your family. You are genuine, honest and knowledgable horseman and so is your family blessed with these qualities. I would advise any buyer to work with you.

Hi Pete,
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that we are really happy with the horse we bought from you.  We've had him out a few times and he has been really good.  Fun to ride, easy keeper and he gets along great with our other horses.
I appreciate you bringing him out when we were up to look at horses.

Thanks again and take care,

Matt

Hey Jill!

I just wanted to tell you that I am very happy with the horse I purchased from you. We have been running at some show up around our neck of the woods and have been doing awesome! She's a great girl and is a quick runner! Thank you again for all your help with her and I hope to see you at some shows in the future!

Jakkie

Hi Pete & Jill,
Just a quick update on our awesome horse purchased from Houck Horse Company, YGW French Cajun. I bought Cajun about 1 1/2 years ago after I told you guys what I wanted in a horse. Cajun is exactly the horse you represented in everyway. Very broke. All I can say - LOVE HIM! While I bought him for myself, one of my sons (Bobby) wanted to start riding again. Cajun became his horse and the two of them have been a team ever since. We would love to run more Houck Horse Barrels than we have and your jackpots but at 95 miles away ,one way we don't make it up there as often as we would like. As I have said in the past and still say today "I love my Houck Horse!" and I would buy another (of course, right horse, right time applies!).

We LOVE Cajun!!! Thanks Pete & Jill!!

Sincerely,
Cindy Olson

Ears up, smiles out & riding the dream
Luke's Wish! Diagnosed with AML Luekemia in June 2010, Luke spent over 7 months in the hospital battling AML with courage, strength and faith. A farm boy at heart with a passion for horses, all Luke wanted to do was get home and live the life he so treasures. And now he's home, in remission and inspiring everyone that meets him. So on Sunday, April 17th, Luke received his Western Wish - to own a roping horse. Gunsmoke, an 8 yr old Buckskin QH that ropes in it's sleep. Go get e'm Luke!   Luke is an amazing young man and the two of them rode off like they had done this a hundred times.

Hey Jill,

Thanks so much for Boomer. I know Ive only had him a couple of weeks, but he is already everything I could have asked for. He is so calm and  is picking up on things fast. I have even played around with the cattle and threw a rope off him today. Boomer is just simply amazing! (:

Thanks so much,
Trish

Hi Pete & Jill,
Hope all is well with you.  He is doing very well.  We are amazed at a horse that is SO calm and quiet, what a delight to own such a horse!  He just doesn't have any behavior issues whatsoever! Thanks so much for Manny.  We are delighted to own such a nice horse.

Hi Pete and Jill,
Pete and I took the horses out yesterday. Hank/socks is an amazing horse. He is so willing, no fuzz, no drama - Pete just loves him! Boy, you really have the gift to find great horses! All your horses are going like hot cakes!!

thank you so much. We will take Socks (Pete actual calls him now Sonny Boy, after Pete's favorite blues singer) to Tamarack this week for a 3 day ride. I'm sure he'll do just fine.

Pete and Karin Zachau

We purchased a horse named Elwood from you last year at the sale and have been very pleased.  He’s been an excellent trail horse for my husband.  Pretty much bomb proof, just what we were looking for!

Thank you for finding all these nice horses and putting on the auction!

Krista Wurm

Hi Jill and Pete,
I wanted to tell you that we are very happy with Scotch, the sorrel gelding that we purchased from you a few months ago.  He is proving to be a very level headed, willing riding horse, and Lee (a total beginner) is having a great time riding him (me too!!!).  I've decided that he's going to be my mounted posse horse.

Also wanted to give you a heads up; I'm in the process of selling my young gelding, and will be coming to you in the upcoming future to look for another gelding, similar to Scotch.  So far we're two for two from you (both Sam and Scotch); I know I can count on you for a third!!

Thanks so much, and keep me updated on any potential geldings.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Anderson

Hi Pete & Jill,

We call him “Turbo” now, Travis named him. He is such a good horse for me! Pete did an awesome job matching him up with me. I have been team penning and ranch sorting with him, I hope to be doing ranch rodeos this summer too! Again, thank you so much!

Elizabeth Lidberg

Pete and Jill-

I can’t thank you enough for my boy I got from you. I bought “Benny”, originally from a ranch in Montana, back in August of 2010. He got the new name of Bennett and has turned into my pride and joy. We’ve come a long ways together since I purchased him from you, and have the plans of doing some barrels for fun this summer!! Whenever someone comes to the barn to see him, they almost always say before they leave “He sure is a momma’s boy, isn’t he” and I’m always proud to say he is for sure. I also love that he has a “B” brand on his hip…that way I’ll always know he’s mine. (:

Thank you so much again! And I hope to see you around some of your shows with him.

-Bailey Schwartz

Hello Houck family!

Septemeber of 2010 I bought Jakes Armor. A 4 year old registered Quarter Horse gelding originally from Montana. He is doing absolutly amazing! I love him SOOOO much. He has such an amazing personality and he's very mellow for a 4 year old. My dad actually threatened to take him for himself! [which WONT happen because he's my future barrel horse.] I'm finishing him off on the barrel pattern in hopes of getting him in some futurities this year. I didn't get to work him too much in the fall because of some injury problems. But he's a very fast learner! I'm planning on using him for WSCA shows and 4-H also. Thanks again for such a wonderful horse, we WILL be back. Maybe looking for a barrel/rope horse for my brother!

-Ellie Manteufel

Hi Pete & Jill..
Wyoming Pheonix..he is a 2000 model...reg paint geld. He has been super easy to train, and for the most part very consistent on the pattern. His first season out he was in the top 10 for the UBRA 2D both MN and world. His second season out he won an average saddle at Cannon Falls. Not sure what else I can say about him...love him to pieces! He is as honest as they come! :)

Hi Pete and Jill its me Carrie Lampert. We love Dusty. He is the most perfect trail horse. He can even pivot while staying in place. He is great and we can put anyone on him. He is very vocal and loves hugs and has excell. ground manners. Loads like a dream. Not a nasty mean bone in him around people or other pasture friends. He is the best. Thank you so very much. God bless all of you! Carrie

Jill & Pete -

I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how much we are loving Hancock.  When I purchased him at your auction in April I was looking for a husband horse.  I truly appreciated the time that Pete spent that day showing me the horses he felt were a match for what I was looking for.  I brought Hancock home that afternoon thinking I was bringing home a trail horse for my husband.  Hancock is that and so much more - he truly is a horse of many talents.  He's great on the trail for my husband and other beginners but has enough 'go' to be fun for more advanced riders too.  A couple of months ago I was preparing to go to a 4-division ranch sort and decided that morning that Hancock would have to be my ride as my regular horse was having hoof issues.  He stepped right up to the challenge and we ended up winning the 2nd division!  His most recent job has been as the step-up horse for my daughter whose riding skills have exceeded the capabilities of her shetland pony.  She's been riding Hancock for two weeks now and has ridden him to two fun shows.  Yesterday she won the Reserve High Point award in the 7 & Under age group at a local show.  I just can't say enough great things about this horse - he's exceptionally versatile and has a wonderful loving personality to boot.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help us find this horse - he is an absolutely perfect fit for our family!

Dear Pete, Jill, & Lana!
Thanks so much for selling Rocket to me! “RahRahh” and I have had some GREAT runs together already! She is athletic, willing, HONEST, and pretty to boot! She is a great horse to be around and loves all the attention! Cannot wait to run her next year in the Houck Horse Company class at your jackpots!
Here is a picture of us running at the 2010 Minnesota NBHA State Finals!
Thanks again!

Hi Jill!
Thank you so much for selling me such a wonderful horse!  Zoey is so nice to ride and easy to work with.  She has learned everything so fast!  She is a dream on the trails and learning all the game patterns quickly.   She is a perfect fit for me!

Dear Pete And Jill,

Merlin (formerly Flea) is a trooper in every way.  He's willing to do anything you ask of him and always has a great attitude.  He's filling out beautifully and is just getting prettier every day.  Of course, a lot of his beauty probably comes from his personality, too! At any rate, we just love him and can't wait to take him on lots of new adventures.  He's definitely a horse that inspires confidence in everyone who rides and handles him.  He's really special and I'm so happy I took a chance and bid on him at your auction!

Thanks to Pete and Jill,

I purchased  Jerk and Tye at the Houck Spring Auction.  He  is going to be one of my best horses ever.  Thank you.  God bless.

Hi Jill,
I just want to say..." I love my boy Sticks, he is amazing, Thankyou Pete and Jill so much for such an awesome horse, our whole family loves him"

Thanks,
So much! Shayna

This is Aleah on her very first trail ride/camping trip.  She is ten.  Needless to say, Stoney is awesome.  He's been such a fun trail horse, and he's probably one of the more comfortable riding horses I've had since Red.  Awesome walk, trot, lope, whatever I do.  And, from what I hear he's pretty good at going around those barrels too!  Thanks, Pete, for finding him for me.

Love, Mom

Just wanted to let you know that everything is going well with Joe.  He is a very nice horse.  I have ridden him several times and things are going good.  Took a lesson with Penny yesterday and it went well.  She told me that she feels that I made a good choice in him and that he has had some good training in his past and I look very relaxed on him.  I started teaching him ground work and he is picking that up quickly.  Joe does not want to dissapoint anyone.   Thanks again for him.

Dear Jill, Pete and Lana,

Maisy and Dolly are doing great! We just love them.

Maisy (Strawberry) being my first horse has had to teach me a lot and Dolly (Peppy) is so gentle and sweet.

We are having a lot of fun with them and can’t wait for spring.

The panels I bought from you are great too; I got to ride both of them before it got too cold.

I wanted to let you know that Scout is working out great, he is starting to settle in.

Thanks,
Wendy Krueger

Hi Pete & Jill,

We love the new Horses.  The mare is perfect for Ashley she is so nice.  Alison and Sam are still two peas in a pod.  Puddles (the grey) is here to stay.  He is not the perfect horse for Mike, but he rode him a little and did fine.  Puddles likes to be in front and I like Mike in the back of the line on a lazy horse. something I have to get over.   Thanks for the great horses!

Thanks again,
Tiffany Stiglich
Hi Pete & Jill,

I'm writing to let you know about the horse we purchased from you 2 years ago.  Rose has been wonderful with my 15 year old daughter. They took 2nd place in western pleasure and equitation at their first WSCA show. They also took 2nd place in western pleasure and 2nd place in a trail class with experienced adults at a ranch show. Sadie's trainer took 6th place in the trail class so we were pretty excited when she placed higher than her trainer in a class! Sadie and Rose are a great team and have started cutting cows and are working on reining. She's a great horse and we are very happy with her.

Thanks for setting us up with a great horse!
Tammy Nielsen

Hey Pete & Jill~

New horse (Harley) is doing well, been out on trails, very quiet horse does great with kids... great rides to come next year…

Thanks,
Cindy Marx

Thanks Pete & Jill!

Kalli is doing great on Peanut, so good that we made need to get a faster pony or horse! lol  She is starting to ride 2 handed again and is really getting her confidence back! If everything goes as planned, we should be at the rest of your jackpots for the Peewee class.

Thanks again, Hailey & Kalli Sheldon

Hi Pete and Jill

Just wanted to let you know that the Appaloosa horse I purchased from you is just what I was looking for.
He is working out great, I can put anyone on him and he does what ever is asked.
He is well broke and just an all around great horse and fits in well with all of the other horses that I have.

Thank you for all of your help!!!
Ranone

Hi Jill,

Just dropping you a note to let you know that Gracie (Missouri Fox Trotter mare) is doing great!  I have taken her on several rides now with different obstacles and she hasn’t disappointed me yet.  I just wanted to say thanks and that we will be back to purchase another horse in the future.

Jen Blackstock

Hi Pete, I recently bought a morgan/quarter horse from you. No I don't want to give him back, he is quite the horse actually, way to much fun to work with. He is such a people horse, loves the barn, very curious, follows me wherever I go, the list goes on. If someone had to give him up what a loss for them. So thanks for the help it was a big step to buy a new one after having another for 25 yrs. Sue Voelker

Hi Jill and Pete,

Just wanted to let you know how much I love Billy "aka Buck".  He is a awesome horse and is so patient with me.  Billy is a wonderful horse and I am building my confidence with him.  I have been riding him in the outdoor arena by myself this week.  Once I rode him the first time by myself, I couldn't wait to do it again.  Was a little afraid to ride him at first but now I can't get enough of it.  My daughter and I have a few trail rides planned and can't wait to see how Billy will do.  Again thanks to you both for helping me pick the perfect horse for me.

Tonja

Hi Jill,

Strawberry is now called Maisy and is doing great!  She is very patient and sweet. Thanks for all your help and having the perfect horse for us.

Hi Pete, Jill and Lana,
Just a quick update on TinyHorse or better known as Pea Tom Hancock. He has been a sweetheart to own, ride and just to be around. He is SO easy going. His manners on the ground and in the saddle are impeccable and he is so very well broke. I've been riding him at home everyday until Sunday when I decided to take him on the Fox Hollow  "Pre-trail ride" ride (to get trails ready for the BIG advertised ride). I wasn't sure what TinyHorse would do though I was sure he would do what I asked, this isn't a ride for the inexperienced. There are steep, steep hills and at least 6 water crossings, one of them was so deep, I was the only one with dry feet. Ha ha the tall horse = GOOD! I do get the laughs because TinyHorse is so tall at 16HH and I'm not too tall, (OK, I'm darn short) but TinyHorse was most definitnately the right horse for me. I'll probably be starting him trotting on patterns this summer, hopefully I'll make it up to a barrel race or two when we're ready.  This will sound like an advertisement but you guys know horses and how to match them up with the rider. Thanks again!!

Cindy Olson & TinyHorse

I have to tell you – Tally and I got 1st in Barrels (and egg and spoon) last Saturday at Hi Circle Vee’s fun show, and we won a trophy for having high point in our class.  And we took 2nd the weekend before at the wsca show.  I have qualified for the 09 champ show with her in 2 events now, barrels and figure 8.  She is such a good girl, she’s helped a lot in getting my confidence level back up there, with each ride it gets better.   She definitely found a home where she is loved and appreciated

Tammy Reimer

I dont know what I would do without him! Thank you so much jasper has given me the confidence I need. He was the first horse that I could ride without being scared and nervous. I went through about 5 before I got my perfect boy. Thanks so much.

Laiken Jorgenson

Pete and Jill,

Thanks so much for showing me Ruby! She has been such a great horse for me!  Inthis past year learning how to game on her has been so much fun. Also, thank youfor teaching me how to barrel race. The lessons have really helped. I haveincluded a picture of us.

Thanks Again, Ann Benner & Ruby

Hi Pete~

As promised, here are some pictures of Rico and me.  I sent some of us in Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and North Dakota.  So, in the short time we have owned him, he has been around the block!!

He is a great horse and without Rico, I probably wouldn't have gotten on another horse.  I have had 3 accidents in the last two years and was about ready to give up.  I know that he will never be the kind of horse that can get out there and run barrels or anything but at this stage in my life, neither am I!!  We are a perfect fit.

Thanks Pete for giving me the opportunity to own such a gentleman.  He has a forever home at Outlaw Acres!!

Terri

Thought I'd bring some updates on "Ray" which we now affectionately call him "Casino". He has been a superb gelding! We brought him to a clinic recently. It was the Horsemanship-Confidence & Working Cow Clinic conducted by Dennis Auslam. The clinic was a two day weekend down in Morton, MN.  He was a total blast. Not only did I learn many useful things there, but I also got to see what he was really made of. We threw tarps on that horse, had him walk through a puddle full of bottles, over the logs, across the bridge, and so on and forth. He did great! You could try to scare that horse much as you could, HIS FEET WILL NOT MOVE! I'm very pleased! Dennis Auslam, himself commented on what a nice horse he was! Also, even though we did not work on any trailer loading, he literally self loaded himself into the trailer when it was time to go home! He's so smart and so easy going. I really enjoy him! Casino truly is a fun trail horse and very dependable! I think in the spring of 2009, after my baby is born, I'm gonna introduce him to the games. Barrels mainly. I'm really excited about him. Not only would I be able to bring him to games, but I would be able to just simply kick back on the trails and not have to concern myself with keeping him sane and calm! As for Skip, my dad's new horse, he's doing fanastic as well! I'm happy that I met Casino when I wasn't even looking for horses for myself, but rather for my dad! Guess it was fate! *smiles* Thanks again guys for two fanastic horses!

Pete and Jill,

We are having tons of fun with Beau and are so happy we bought him from you.  We love his calm, kind, and confident demeanor.  He is a great trail horse for me--he can lead or follow, he goes over bridges and through water, and he takes everything he sees in stride.  His confidence is definitely helping to improve mine and I'm really enjoying the rides!  Also, Lauren is having lots of fun riding him around the house and down our road and, of course, loves doing the barrels on him because of his "fast" lope.  All in all, he's very versatile and a great horse.  Thanks for making another good match for our family.

Kelly, Andy, Lauren, and Chloe Kinser

Hey Pete & Jill,

Thanks so much for showing me Tequila! She is the most amazing mare I have ever had.We clicked right after I first got her even though Pete tried to tell me she was for my neighbor Sherry and not for me. She runs like a dream, the best I could ever ask for.I love it when we do good at your barrel races it's the most amazing feeling ever. Also Tequila rocks at games, she is a quick learner. I got my first ever high point on her two weeks ago! She brought me to champ show last year for barrels of course. Over the year I've had her, she showed me that she has more speed to run faster at the barrel races where ever she brings me. I'm so looking forward to this year and all the years coming to barrel race. I love my Quarter/Arab Tequila.

Thanks a lot,
Bobbi Scheffler & Tequila

Pete-

The 7 year old sorrel gelding we bought from you recently is doing GREAT!
I named him Chevy, and have been working on the WSCA patterns with him,
At our first show we were only a second off of the placing times in everything!
He is very patient, calm, and sane, but has all the energy and speed he needs when you need it.
He is everything I wanted and more, I can't thank Pete enough for showing him to me :)

Thanks a million!

-Nikki and Chevy

I absolutely LOVE Sugar, she's exactly what I was looking for!!

Thanks so much!!!!!!

Jenna King & Sugar!

Hey I just thopught I'd let you know Cisco is doing GREAT at my ranch. My trainer for cisco is Brittany Izzy, she is training me and cisco for barrels and so far we've done great!  You would be so happy for him cuz EVERYONE LOVES HIM! EVERY SINGLE PERSON HAS SAID THAT HE'S A NICE HORSE AND VERY CUTE AND SWEET AND VERY WELL TRAINED! I've never heard so many people compliment a horse in my lifetime of horse back riding!
~BRITTANY~

Pete & Jill~

Cheri (Annie as we call her now) is doing wonderful! She is steadily gaining weight and losing that big belly of hers. She is such a sweet horse and is so much fun to ride! We all love her and are very thankful that we bought her. I've attached a picture of me riding her.  Thanks!

~Amy Rice

Hi Pete!

I wanted to send you a couple of photos of my daughter Hannah, who I bought “Breeze on Thru” for.  As you may recall, Jeni Willey arranged for the purchase on September 28th and we’ve kept him a secret until Monday the 22nd when it was Hannah’s 9th birthday. She was shocked and really couldn’t fathom receiving a horse for her birthday. She rode him Monday night and again tonight and she just loves him! Again, thank  you for finding just the right horse – I named him “J.R.” for “Just Right” because he is just that!

Take care and thanks again!

Lisa Meunier

Pete and Jill,

I can't thank you enough for showing me Chance!  He is the most amazing horse I have ever met! Soon after I got him we just clicked. Also, Jill thank you so much for teaching me how to barrel race. Chance and I are doing great and are looking forward to next season! He has brought me anywhere and everywhere I have ever wanted to go this year, and more. Once again thank you guys for this amazing horse!!!

Thanks a lot,

Sara Solheid and Chance

Dear Pete & Jill~
I have been riding Angel everyday so far, and I am even riding her bareback. I thank God everyday for leading me to you guys. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have Angel. I am also glad that I got the BEST teacher in the world.

Yours Truly,
Cheyanne Ford

Howdy Houck's! I've been meaning to send a note on the 4 horses Dan and I have bought from you. First was Sophie, she was a great confidence builder, did all the games, trailrode like a dream, roped off, penned, sorted, Ranch Rodeos. Then after a year or so I needed something a little faster and quicker. Along came Ruby- she's awesome! I can do anything on her. I won my first buckle with her at Broken Bit Arena this summer. Now I've acquired Kansas and he's just a dream. He was suppose to be a backup horse for Ruby but, he's just so quick and willing that he's moved to my primary penning, sorting and ranch rodeo horse. What a great match all 3 of these horses have been for me. Dan's horse Jazz, has won 3 buckles, money, jacket series at HiCircleVee and lots of compliments. She's a quick, agile and fun horse to ride. I will try to send pics of all 4. I did attatch Ruby and I getting ready to rope.

Lori

Hey Pete and Jill,

I just wanted to thank you for the awesome horse white gelding you sold me about 2 weeks ago! I named him Blaze and love him so much! He is doing wonderfully learning games and I couldn't have asked for a better horse. At our 2nd show we took him just for experience and we ended up getting 4th in poles and he did wonderfull in all the other events! So thanks again for the super horse!

Elise and Blaze

Hi Pete and Jill,

Here is a picture of Lauren and Abe at their first Fun Show.  I'm so happy that we found you to help us find us the perfect first horse for our family.  I would recommend you to ANYONE wanting to buy a horse, but especially to the inexperienced first-time horse buyer (such as myself).   You found us an awesome, quiet, well-trained horse that we can all enjoy and I can feel comfortable putting my 6 year old on and that, to me, is priceless.  Furthermore, you told me up front that finding this "perfect horse" in my budget could take a while, instead of just pushing me toward what you had in your paddocks on that day to make a quick sale.  But best of all you FOUND him for us and he's really better than we could have ever imagined!  Thank you for your honesty and for finding us Abe--he'll have a good life with us.

Sincerely,

Kelly Kinser

Update on Black Jack~

I'd have written sooner but we have all been too busy riding!  I thought you'd like to hear news of Jack.  He's everything you said and more.  Our entire family is enjoying him.  I can put anyone on him including less experienced family members and he's always a gentleman.  In fact, my youngest daughter, a confident rider with a horse of her own, chose to ride Jack in our local parade over her regular riding horse.  He was as calm as could be among fire trucks, Shriners mini cars, screaming kids and brass bands.   My husband adores him and is riding much more often now that he's well mounted on smooth gaited TWH.  Together, we've covered a lot of trail miles this summer.  Jack is well broke but not a slo' poke as he loves gaiting alongside my TWH mare down the trail and he's even begun to learn some neck reining and under my daughter's guidance is remembering how to perform a nice collected rocking chair canter.  Who ever trained and rode Jack, did a great job.  He's willing, patient and compliant, great in the herd and a joy to have around the farm.  The farrier and vet love him too.

Hello Pete and Jill,
just wanted to email and let you know that I took Leo camping/riding this weekend. Our first ride since I purchased him.
We went up some long, steep grades and he went up them like I wasn't even on his back. I was very pleased on how he kept up with the taller horses. He proved to be very sure footed, stepping over logs and maneuvering the rocky terrain. After a short break, I decided I would lead to see how confident he was out front. The little bugger just kept trucking along and several times I had to check him so the others could catch up. He really walks out and it is smooth, not choppy at all for a short horse. On the trail was a big excavating digger that was parked to the side. He looked at it and walked right past. We were still in front. No side stepping or anything. We went further and came to a water crossing, he likes to play in it so obviously didn't have a problem going through it. HA The ultimate test was when I decided to head back to camp by myself and break off from the group. Not a problem for Leo.  He is a calm boy. Just wanted to let you know that I am very pleased with the horse and would recommend  my friends if they should ever have the need for a new horse.
Thanks, Kris Patten

Hi Pete,

About 4-5 years ago I bought a palomino paint mare from you - you called
her Sheeba. I absolutely love that horse!  While I still own her (I call her Sweetie) - I am
looking for another horse just like her! I was hoping you could keep your eyes open for me and let me know if you
come across anything. My experience buying from you in the past was really great, you were
honest to a fault with me about the horses you had.  I wonder if you know
how much of a rarity you are in that respect!

Thanks,
Jennifer Hansen
Hey Jill/Pete~

Update on Rowdy.... We had our first jackpot a couple weeks ago and we did pretty good.  We made the short go (which I was pleased with), but didn't come home with any $ yet.  It was pretty exciting for me, since I had never made the short go with any of the other horses I was using.  He did everything I asked of him that day, "he's a real cow eater".  I think we'll make a great pair with more time & experience.  Thanks again for bringing us together!! I really do like him a lot and can't wait until the snow leaves and we can get more outside riding in.  Our sorting league starts in two weeks, so I'm hoping we do well there.  Planning to get a couple ranch rodeos in this summer and in June I'm taking him out to Medora for some relaxation riding.

Just a note about the little Tennesse Walker you sold to me last October.  Her new name is Ella.   She and I have become close buddies.  She is a great trail horse and so easy on my bad back.  Because of her, my riding career will be extended.  She can even do barrels and poles (at her lovely running walk).

Hi Jill & Pete,
I bought that great buckskin gelding from you last winter, De Nifty Cowboy, or more affectionately known as "Pi". We have been running a few jackpots and NBHA & WSCA barrels.  The attached picture is at the Barrel Bash at the I-90 Expo Center in early May. Pi is the brokest, quietest horse at 5 years old I have EVER ridden. Nothing seems to upset or phase him, he takes absolutely everything in stride. I get tons of compliments on his looks and great attitude. Pi really enjoys barrel racing and really knows the pattern well, we seem to be getting it together a little better every time I ride. As you know, I ride totally one handed and Pi doesn't care how I ride, we've connected there really well..

Thanks for selling me this great gelding and see you at a barrel race,

Cindy Olson

Pete & Jill-Just a quick note to thank you SO much for our beautiful Bullet!  He has turned out to be the perfect horse for my daughter!!  We both love him so much.... Really can't thank you enough for your kindness, and expertise in matching up the right horse with the rider.  It was a wonderful experience all the way around.

Hi Pete and Jill,

This is Lynn Franey, my husband and I bought two horses from you in December. The Quarter horse, Susie, and the Missouri Fox Trotter which we call mystery. We love both these horses and having the nice weather have been out riding.  Mystery has such a sweet personality and rides very smooth. My friends that have come to ride, just love her too. Susie is always wonderful. And you were right when you said she'd train me. We will probably be looking for another in the future and I see you have some horses worth looking at as usual. When we decide on the next one, we will be getting in touch with you and Jill.

Hi Pete & Jill - We bought the grey horse from you. We call her Chick and she breakaway and calf ropes now. She a natural with it. They were tying down calves on her within a week. My daughter, Sam is who we bought her for to use in HS rodeo. She's now graduated and her brother is now using her for JR High rodeo and will use her in HS rodeo. I wish I could find another one just like her.

I was just on the website. Thanks!

The two of them are connecting, we sure get alot of compliments on him. He's a KEEPER!
